President Sooronbai Jeenbekov declared 2018 in Kyrgyzstan the Year of Regional Development. This was reported by the Information Policy Department of the Presidential Administration.
According to him, the corresponding decree of the head of state, signed on January 9, will become the basic document for the development of the regions.
“In 2018, the foundation should be laid for systemic changes in the development of regions. This will require joint efforts of all branches of government and the civil sector. Specific recommendations are given The Jogorku Kenesh, the government, which directly relate to the development of the regions, will develop long-term comprehensive programs for each region, and approve planning standards for villages, cities and other territorial units,” Sooronbai Jeenbekov emphasized.
He recalled that during his time as prime minister of the country, the Regional Development Concept, the Program for Providing the Population with Clean Drinking Water, and the Program for Improving Irrigation in the Country were developed and adopted. The head of state emphasized that the decree will give a powerful impetus to the implementation of these programs.
